The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
There are currently 855,000 Boy Scouts and 485,000 adult volunteers in the United States. While there is guidance from experienced leaders, Boy Scouts take their own lead, exploring places they’ve never been as they dive into the rugged world of outdoor adventure. With a spirit of teamwork, they pack up their Scout gear and their sense of adventure, and dive into the learning and excitement that comes from being in the brotherhood of
the Boy Scouts.
Since 1929, Boy Scout Troop 22, sponsored by the Holy Name Society of St. Francis Catholic Church, has been working to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, hundreds of men can look back on their participation in the Scouting program here and know that they were given unique, life-changing experiences that youth simply can’t get anywhere else.
The Troop 22 Boy Scout program is open all young men in the Quincy area who are ages 11 through 17 – regardless of where they live or their church or school affiliation. In other words, if a young man wants to be a part of our Scouting program, we want him to be.
